Lead Climbing Coach

Duties and Responsibilities:

To transform and enhance the lives of others by enthusiastically sharing our passion for climbing and fitness.

TRC’s Lead Climbing Coach is directly involved and responsible for managing practices for Intermediate/Advanced/Crew teams in Raleigh and must have a constant awareness for risk management and delivering a phenomenal customer service experience for all team members.

The Lead Raleigh Coach will: oversee program and curriculum development; and be responsible for the education of team climbers, participation in a monthly Raleigh Team audit and the continued growth of Team TRC.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to –

  • Will be responsible for planning and fulfilling TRC Raleigh practices and crew meetings; to include: Staff preparation for practice; Group management of team climbers; Parent communication
  • Will be able to assist the TRC Head Coach in curriculum development, staff training, team communications and the monthly TRC Team Audit
  • Will be responsible for monitoring and managing the use of Climb equipment and fitness equipment
  • Maintain an understanding of training methods for climbing and equipment used to train for climbing through specific movement and non-specific fundamental movements.
  • Responsible for all USA Climbing rules and regulations including the Parent Handbook
  • Must have the ability to attend two locals and all six championship events during the year.
  • Have the ability to lead weekly coach meetings for Raleigh Team TRC
  • Will be responsible for planning and organizing team philanthropy, social, and training events
  • Must come to practice with an enthusiastic, professionalism and a positive attitude
  • Understand the three values of Team TRC: Support Each Other, Learn from Others and Welcome the Challenge
  • Must attend the yearly coaching development workshop
  • Should understand the concept of coaching with Questions not Answers

 

Requirements & Preferred Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years’ experience in youth programming. BA in Sports Science or Exercise Physiology, Outdoor Recreation Management, or NSCA Certification is preferred.
  • Extensive background in coaching youth, preferably in a youth competitive sport environment
  • Should be able to comfortably coach climbers with varied experience and skill levels
  • Demonstrated passion for the sport of climbing.
  • NSCA Certification preferred
  • CPR/AED required
  • 1-year commitment to Triangle Rock Club

Junior Climbing Coach

TRC’s Junior Climbing Coach must have a constant awareness for risk management and delivering a phenomenal customer service experience for all team members.

The Junior Coach will be responsible for the education of team climbers, and the continued growth of Team TRC.

  • Should have a general understanding of training methods for climbing and equipment used to train for climbing through specific movement and non-specific fundamental movements.
  • Responsible for all USA Climbing rules and regulations including the Parent Handbook

  • Must come to practice with an enthusiastic, professionalism and a positive attitude

Requirements & Preferred Experience

Summer Camp Counselors (Part-Time, Seasonal)

Looking for an opportunity to work with kids and share your love of climbing?  TRC-Raleigh, and TRC-Durham are currently hiring camp counselors for summer 2019! Duties include belaying, leading games, teaching lessons, and being a positive and encouraging part of the summer for kids ages 6 to 16.

This is a seasonal position (June 2019 through August 2019). Start and end dates negotiable.

Requirements/Preferred Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred
  • Experience in Youth Programming
  • Background in customer service and/or customer-facing roles
  • Monday – Friday daytime availability

Camp Staff (Part-Time, Year-Round, Mornings/Afternoons)

Love climbing, working with kids and are hoping to share your passion for the sport with a younger generation? We’re looking to fill several school-year Track Out Camp Staff positions at our Raleigh facility for the year! Must be available during daytime hours.

First Ascents Staff (Part-Time, Year-Round, Afternoons/Evenings)

Passionate about climbing and adventure and looking to share that passion with a younger generation?

We are looking for staff who are interested in working our youth climbing program, First Ascents, with availability in the evenings from 4-6 Monday-Thursday on an ongoing basis.  Experience with kids preferred, passion for teaching others about climbing a must!

Event Belayers (Part-Time)

Birthday Party Coordinator (Part-Time)

Love climbing, working with kids and celebrating birthdays? Have a knack for organization and helping coordinate events? We’re looking for a second Birthday Party Coordinator to oversee our weekend birthday parties! As the Birthday Party Coordinator, you will alternate weekend availability with a second coordinator, be responsible for fostering a one of a kind party experience for our customers while keeping a close eye on product quality control, engage with party participants and their families, and facilitate party games on TRC climbing terrain!

Requirements/Preferred Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in Youth Programming
  • Extensive background in customer service and/or customer facing roles
  • Experience in event planning is preferred

Climbing Instructor (Part-Time)

We’re currently looking for Climbing Instructors to assist with numerous introductory-level and advanced-level classes. Classes included Intro to Rope Climbing, Intro to Lead Climbing, Climbing Movement Fundamentals, and Advanced Climbing Movement Clinics. Our Instructor position offers a flexible schedule and is a great way to get plugged into the broader TRC community.

Requirements/Preferred Experience:

Active climber that is well versed in all forms of indoor climbing (e.g.: bouldering and ropes)

Previous experience in teaching, instruction, or public speaking

CWA CWI Certified preferred
