2016 Carolina Crush

Our 2016 Carolina Crush ropes comp was the biggest youth comp TRC has hosted yet… and it was amazing! We had a blast on ropes and loved seeing new competitors scaling TRC's 55-foot walls. Something fun and unique about this competition was our ability to partner with Duke Adaptive Climbing and support their cause. In the morning, Team TRC parents pooled together to put on a Pancake Breakfast and donated ALL proceeds to Duke Adaptive (over $200!). Later in the afternoon, DAC arrived and provided lunch for all of our competitors and their families - wow! It was such an honor to work alongside of them.

A MASSIVE thank you to Skinny, Scott Gilliam & The Routesetters, Travis Wills, ALL of our volunteers & TRC's amazing staff members for making the day one worth remembering.  And a huge congratulations to all the climbers who placed - we are so proud of you!

Team Practice Holiday Schedule

Hi team! Just a reminder about our upcoming holiday schedules + a few things about our upcoming SCS season!

Please note that all TRC facilities will be closing at 4 PM on Thursday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) and that we will not be holding any practices on that day. Additionally, we will not be holding practices between December 28th – 31st. Instead, we are encouraging all climbers to rest and celebrate the holidays with their friends and family. Taking time to rest and injuries to be rehabilitated, and the mind to reset. Please be aware, however, that climbing assignments will be sent via a team newsletter the week prior to December 28th for climbers who choose to visit the gym during the break period.

After the New Year we will kick start the SCS season which includes top-roping, sport climbing, and speed climbing! Climbers who are not continuing their bouldering season into Divisionals will begin learning the ropes on January 4th. All climbers will need their own harness and belay device in addition to their climbing shoes and chalk bag. Climbers, if you do not already own this equipment check out our selection here at TRC and don’t forget to use your 20% team discount. For recommendations on specific types of equipment please e-mail me or ask for the help of any staff member by the retail area.
