The one-hour course is the perfect place to teach you the basics of climbing and helps you ‘learn the ropes’ with a comprehensive introduction to belaying technique that can be used to climb at Triangle Rock Club. Our lesson includes a tutorial on proper top rope belay technique and how to properly use climbing equipment. This class will give you all the tools you’ll need to take the Top Rope Belay Check! All equipment is provided, and participants receive a one-week pass with free rental gear.

Our one-hour Progressions Class picks up where Introduction to Climbing leaves off and provides a broader overview of basic climbing concepts, plus an introduction to bouldering. Participants learn about climbing grades, shoe technology, basic movement techniques, and bouldering/spotting safety. Reservations are required and Progressions classes fill up quickly. Payment in full is required at the time of registration.
Get an introduction to sport lead climbing with Triangle Rock Club’s Above the Bolt! This two-part class should come after you have successfully completed our Intro to Climbing and Progressions classes, and we recommend that participants are comfortable climbing a 5.9 on top rope.
The first two-hour session covers the intricacies of lead climbing, including clipping quick-draws correctly. Session two concentrates on safe belaying, efficient energy conservation and how to take a lead fall. A Strong emphasis will be placed on efficiency and risk management.
After taking this course most participants should successfully pass our Lead Climbing Check.
Participants will learn to belay a leader, including feeding rope, braking, and lowering.
This clinic is designed for climbers who have been lead certified for at least 90 days and wish to sharpen their skills. Each clinic includes a brief tutorial on how to effectively lead with a GriGri and push their grade limits while on the sharp end of the rope.
In this 5-hour clinic, we will be exploring and assessing your climbing movement; creating awesome workouts to help with improving your climbing long-term; and giving you a chance to work with some of our best instructors as they guide you through their personal successes and pitfalls that got them where they are today. Get ready to work hard and learn all about how to improve your experience in the gym, fully utilizing all the tools the gym has to offer, and become more confident in your climbing than ever! Open to boulderers and rope climbers alike, we will have discussions about how to do it all!
