Born in Philadelphia, Ingrid’s family relocated to Western NC to escape big city life, her parents choosing Asheville partly for its close proximity to great outside climbing! Ingrid’s dad (a lifelong climber) got her sisters and her into climbing early on. Ingrid studied at Appalachian State University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Art Management, with minors in Not-for-Profit Management and General Business. It was while in school that she really had the chance to cultivate her love of climbing. After a summer internship at a natural history museum in England in 2015, Ingrid moved to Raleigh and became a member at TRC, where she eventually began working as a Camp Counselor in March of 2016. Aside from climbing in the gym, Ingrid loves going on outdoor bouldering trips, checking out Durham’s art scene, and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
Tori grew up in a small Pennsylvanian town, known for being The Mushroom Capital of The World, where her love for exploring nature originally flourished. She eventually went on to graduate as Magna Cum Laude with an English degree from NC State University where she also prided herself for winning The Undergraduate Award for Fiction. About a week into climbing at TRC, Tori felt that she had found a soul-driven passion and decided to get more involved by working as desk staff. From there, Tori completely submerged herself into the community and frequently would be seen at events and other programs. When Tori isn’t climbing, she’s diving into fictional worlds, tirelessly editing her novel, analyzing film, or picking up odd hobbies like playing the kalimba!
Carter has been climbing pretty much all of his life. He began to focus his energy on training for climbing and competing in 2010. His main disciplines are bouldering and single-pitch trad and sport climbing. However, he can be found on larger features like Laurel Knob from time to time. Carter received his Masters in Outdoor and Experiential Education at Western Carolina State University.
While his passion for climbing is what got him into the industry, helping young adults realize their own potential for greatness is what made him stick around. “Climbing is the tool to help people realize their autonomy and confidence–rather than the end goal itself. It’s not always about the actual climbing when it really comes down to it: it is often about equity and self-betterment and helping others chase and achieve the same”.
