Programs Manager (Year-Round, Full-Time) - Listed 4/15/21
POSITION
Title/Location: Programs Manager - Durham | Reports To: Club Director | Dept: Programs | Level: Manager | FLSA Status: Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Programs Manager is directly involved and responsible for the management and execution of all Programs, Classes, and Clinics at their respective location. The Programs Manager is a leadership position. Responsibilities will include the oversight and growth of their department to realize its long-term potential. Additionally, they are responsible for the hiring, training, and scheduling of a large team of part-time Programs Staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to –
Customer Experience –
  • Serve as the primary contact for confirming reservations and managing all event bookings.
  • Collaborate with the Club Director to expand and improve all offerings with a priority on youth-specific audiences.
  • Oversee programs, classes, and clinics that will serve the broader Membership community to promote gym utilization and member retention.
  • Constantly seek feedback from program participants, group leaders, and stakeholders regarding their TRC Program experience.
  • Actively facilitate, teach, or instruct as necessary to meet scheduling and staff training needs.
Staff Development –
  • Provide ongoing staff training with regards to safety and cultivate gym etiquette that is consistent with stated policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervise the Camp Coordinator, if applicable, to ensure TRC’s Camp Program meets expectations and reaches its full potential.
  • Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of Programs Staff.
  • Regularly train and coach all Programs Staff on best practices, curriculum, and desired program outcomes.
Administrative –
  • Create new, and maintain existing, B2B and other community relationships to maximize program revenue growth.
  • Monitor quantitative data in Rock Gym Pro to understand how the Program Department is performing, relative to its potential.
  • Work with Club Director to regularly review department successes and challenges, and to achieve department revenue goals.
  • Assist the Club Director with general operations as needed to meet long-term business outcomes.
  • All tasks as requested by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must have a demonstrated passion for climbing and fitness on a personal basis.
  • Minimum two years working in customer service and at least one year of management or supervisory experience in a climbing gym, fitness center, or camp program.
  • Open availability to meet facility needs and special events as needed.
  • Previous experience in hiring, training, and scheduling part-time Staff.
  • Works proactively to build relationships within the climbing community and the public.
  • Can work independently and balance competing priorities with ease and flexibility.
  • Strong organization skills and proficient with organizational tools such as web-based applications, MS Office and POS tools (Rock Gym Pro preferred).
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills. Must work well as part of a team.
  • BA/BS in a relatable field or relevant experience and coursework may substitute degree.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Regularly standing up and walking often within facility location.
  • Regularly sitting within facility location.
  • Daily use of a computer.
  • Occasionally needing to climb and belay in the facility.
  • Job requires lifting and exerting force up to 45 lbs on occasion.
  • Vision at 20 inches or less is needed.
  • Travel to other locations is required intermittently.

Floor Staff (Part-Time)

Summer 2021 Camp Counselor (Part-Time, Seasonal)

Looking for an opportunity to work with kids and share your love of climbing? TRC-Durham is currently hiring camp counselors for summer 2021! Duties include belaying, leading games, teaching lessons, and being a positive and encouraging part of the summer for kids ages 6 to 16.

This is a seasonal position (June 2021 through August 2021). Start and end dates negotiable.

Requirements/Preferred Experience: 
  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred
  • Experience in Youth Programming
  • Background in customer service and/or customer-facing roles
  • Monday – Friday daytime availability

After-School Youth Counselor (Year-Round, Part-Time)
Passionate about climbing and adventure and looking to share that passion with a younger generation? We are looking for staff who are interested in working our youth climbing program, First Ascents, with availability from 4pm to 6pm, Monday through Thursday, on an ongoing basis. Experience with kids preferred. Passion for teaching others about climbing a must. Requirements/Preferred Experience:
  • Background in customer service and/or customer facing roles
  • Passion for climbing and sharing that passion with others

Group Exercise Instructor (Part-Time)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    TRC’s Group Exercise Instructor is directly involved and responsible for providing safe, effective and fun exercises to groups participating in classes/activities.  Classes include, but are not limited to: Strength and Conditioning, HIIT Intervals, Plyometrics, Functional Strength Training, Core, and Mobility.  The Group Exercise Instructor position is under the Fitness Department and he/she must have a constant awareness for risk management and delivering a phenomenal customer service experience to the TRC community, members and guests relative to fitness classes.
Instructor Responsibilities:
    • Provide a phenomenal customer experience for the community, giving priority to risk management, guest/member engagement, facility rules and gym etiquette
    • Ability to lead 2 or more of the following style classes – HIIT, Strength and Conditioning, Core and or Mobility
    • Demonstrate the ability to teach a safe, fun, and creative class
    • Must be able to teach to all levels and provide movement modifications when needed
    • Create a class experience that shows your personality and skills while adhering to TRC Standards and Policies
    • Remains current on certifications and new trends in the industry
    • Create a personal connection and relationship with students
    • Set up studio appropriately: music, equipment, etc.
    • Provide excellent instruction that is consistent with the class format and TRC Philosophy
    • Attentively listens to members, answers questions, and engages in conversation before and after classes
    • Clean studio space and all equipment
REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
      • Primary Group Exercise Certification – ACE, AFAA or similar nationally accredited certification required
      • Personal trainer certified preferred
      • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain within 3 months of employment
      • 1+ years’ experience and actively teaching
      • Willing and available to teach a minimum of 2-4 classes per week
      • Outgoing personality with a strong ability to connect with guests and members
      • Demonstrate the ability to teach a safe, fun, and creative class
      • Have a strong desire to help grow the TRC Fitness Programs

Yoga Instructor (Part-Time)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    TRC’s Yoga Instructor is directly involved and responsible for providing safe, effective and fun exercises to groups participating in classes/activities. Classes include, but are not limited to: Foundational Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, Restore, VinYin, Yoga4Climbers and Slow Flow Yoga. The Yoga Instructor position is under the Fitness Department and he/she must have a constant awareness for risk management and delivering a phenomenal customer service experience to the TRC community, members and guests relative to fitness classes.
Instructor Responsibilities:
  • Provide a phenomenal customer experience for the community, giving priority to risk management, guest/member engagement, facility rules and gym etiquette
