Andrew is a former Force Recon Marine who has spent his life in pursuit of adventure both in the military and in the mountains. As the visionary and Founding Partner to TRC he now focuses his passion for adventure in the business world. Husband to the amazing Caroline and a dedicated family man, Andrew has never been known to settle for a halfway effort or going small. This is no more clearly demonstrated than by his role as a father of 5 young kids (4 boys and girl)! Luis (“Jag”), along with Andrew, is also a former Force Recon Marine and is now a climber and workaholic. When he’s not climbing or working, he’s a DOD Certified Anti-Terrorism instructor, black belt martial arts instructor/trainer, sky diver, and a scuba diver. Jag has been awarded numerous decorations and awards during his service in OEF and OIF. After multiple overseas deployments and combat action, we’re making every effort to transition him from public to private service!
Think it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to run a climbing gym? Think again! Joel Graybeal joined Andrew and Luis in 2012 as a Managing Partner of TRC and has ushered in huge amounts of growth for TRC! Joel lives just down the street from TRC Morrisville and has been climbing at TRC since our inaugural Intro Class back in December of 2007… in fact, if you’ve ever climbed at TRC Morrisville, we’re sure you’ve seen him! As a dad to two, Joel holds a deep dedication and appreciation for both family and his community and purposes to enrich the lives of both through his role at TRC.
Mike is THE original TRC employee… he’s been on board since before opening day in 2007! As a western Massachusetts native, Mike did not start climbing until moving to North Carolina in 2006. These days, Mike has his finger on the pulse of almost every project going at TRC Morrisville. As the Club Director, Mike oversees all TRC Morrisville staff, scheduling and group events. If you’ve got a question about TRC, Mike either knows the answer or knows who can give you the answer!
Chance joined the TRC family in the fall of 2013 and has brought a strong background in both business and the outdoors- including a Master’s in Parks and Rec Management. Prior to jumping on board, Chance served as the Climbing Program Coordinator for UNC Chapel Hill and has been on our radar since the first time we met him! As the Club Director at TRC North Raleigh, Chance is the head of staffing, scheduling, groups and events and Raleigh-area partnerships. When he’s not hanging out at TRC, you can find Chance spending time with his fabulous wife, Abby, their two pups and the newest addition to the Van Noppen family, Baby Maggie!
Born in Michigan, Tamara made her way to North Carolina by way of Southern California and Florida and started her climbing career in 2007. Since then, Tamara’s love for the sport has only continued to grow, and she actually ended up meeting her husband and his children while climbing at the former Red Point Climbing Gym! After working in the Cumberland County school system for the past several years, Tamara is eager to grow the TRC community and introduce your group, family or students to TRC’s newest facility in Fayetteville!
A native of the NC mountains, Scott moved to Triangle before he discovered climbing and his love for the sport. He has since tackled long routes in the western U.S. and, with a passion for steep gear routes, Scott has spent numerous days cragging in all over the country, especially here in his native Southeast. After ten years in management and marketing in the tech sector, TRC is Scott’s second life. Scott served on the Board of Directors of the Carolina Climbers’ Coalition for eight years, but now spends his extra time playing music with his phenomenal band Phononova!
As TRC’s Membership Manager, Sam brings an attention to detail (and statuesque beauty) that was honed at the front desk during her years as a Floor Staff Member during her college years. It is Sam’s job to make sure our member base is well cared for, and she pretty much rocks it! Sam is also in charge of Meetup groups for our Triangle-area facilities and is the queen of introducing newbies to the wonderful world of climbing! When Sam isn’t at TRC, you can find her playing soccer, spending time with her husband (and fellow Meetup Extraordinaire !), or taking on a creative, DIY project! Megan joined the TRC team in March of 2014. Prior to jumping on board here, she spent time working in the financial industry in NYC and served as the Marketing Coordinator for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. As TRC’s Marketing Director, Megan oversees media and community relationships, event sponsorship and advertising, social media, TRC photos/video, upcoming TRC events and any/all web-related needs. In her free time, Megan can be found taking photos at weddings or events, hanging out with her husband and their crazy pup, spending time in warm sunshine or running!
A Missouri native, Kayla moved to North Carolina in 2011 and began working at TRC in the spring of 2014. Kayla is passionate about rock climbing and the outdoors, and enjoys spending time with her husband, their two adorable daughters and their overly friendly cat! As TRC Morrisville’s Program Manager, Kayla oversees all of the facilities programs, group visits and corporate partnerships. Have a question pertaining to any of those things? Christine grew up in Charlotte and she first started climbing while in school at Appalachian State, where she earned a degree in Geology and Secondary Education. Prior to her role as a TRC Camp Coordinator, Christine worked at a summer camp in western NC, and traveled to Canada and South Africa where she worked with underprivileged children. After graduating she relocated to the Triangle, where she has had the opportunity to share her passion for climbing with campers at TRC! When Christine is not climbing she enjoys teaching classical Pilates and taking dance classes!
Bradley (“Brad”) holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a minor in International Marketing from Southeast Missouri State University and a Masters in English from Kyungpook National University in South Korea. As a CPR and CWI certified climbing instructor who has organized and led climbing trips throughout the United States and South Korea, Bradley is not only an avid climber, but is also known as the individual to send the longest sport route in North Amerca (Time Wave Zero at El Potrero Chico, Hidalgo, Mexico). As a long time climbing trainer, Bradley has developed his own programs for strength-training, with a focus on injury prevention. When he isn’t at TRC or outdoors climbing, you can find Brad reading Mark Twain, playing rock and roll covers and working as the Director of Marketing for Butora USA.
Hannah grew up in Minnesota and relocated to the Triangle in August after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Global Studies. Hannah enjoys traveling with a focus on outdoor adventure and education and has spent time in the Pacific Northwest, Ecuador and the Outer Banks facilitating adventure-focused activities. Hannah began climbing in the fall of 2014 and quickly developed a passion for the sport. She enjoys sharing her love for climbing with others and is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her love with kids at TRC!
A proud North Carolinian, born and raised in Matthews, NC just south of Charlotte, Aryn recently graduated from NC State University Magna Cum Laude in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelor of Industrial Design. Three years ago on a summer break, a friend of Aryn’s convinced her to go top roping out at Crowder’s Mountain… that’s all it took before Aryn caught the climbing bug and has been climbing ever since. In addition to climbing, Aryn loves to commute, train & race my road bike, and make jewelry in my spare time.
Erin grew up on a small farm in Gainesville, Florida, graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors, Cum Laude, from the University of Florida, and then relocated to Nashville, Tennessee after college. Erin and her husband recently moved to North Carolina from Nashville and love it so far. Erin is passionate about being active and staying busy, and some of her hobbies include weightlifting, rock climbing, running, paddle boarding, hot yoga, kayaking, cooking, reading, gardening, and animals – especially her two dogs.
